Half Way to the Stars

Filed under: General — jc @ 8:51 am

After several years of talking about it, Kirstin and I have finally decided to leave Alaska again. We really liked living in the Bay Area so we are moving back there, probably to Oakland. Check out our joint blog on Blogger.com, Half Way to the Stars.

How many states have you visited?

Thanks to Julia for posting this!

Pretty cool.

Also, Enid (my daughter) has lost her two bottom front teeth! She was very excited. Also, the tooth fairy is breaking me.

Julia blogged recently about going to Wal Mart when you’ve nothing to buy. As a general rule I dislike “shopping” for this reason, it is a waste of time and only encourages impulse buying. If you don’t go to the store to “look” you can’t buy. Here is another piece of advice I will give you about Wal Mart; Never go on the 1st & 15th of the month or any Monday that follows a weekend containing those dates. Those are the days the welfare checks come in, and believe me the cretins come out from under their rocks to spend their “hard earned” handouts.

Happy Monday

This weekend was kinda crazy. Thursday night I started “The Master Clense,” google it if you don’t know.

Okay, so I was hungry all day Friday but it passed, it really does work you just stop being hungry. Pretty cool. Saturday came and I was doing great until I made one mistake, I went to run some errands with the fam that turned into a 4 hour thing. We went to the library and got some groceries. My error? I forgot to bring any lemonade. 4 hours away from the stuff and my resolve crumbled, I was tired, hungry, and super grump. (Sorry Kirstin!) When we got home I broke down and ate a grilled cheese sandwich and just resolved to be done with the Clense. I will try again sometime this year, this time remembering to always bring a bottle of the juice.

But wait, there’s more! So Saturday night I sat playing games and realized it was about 3am. Not wanting to quit (I was having a good time playing online) I drank some coffee and pulled an all nighter. Now this is where it gets weird. All ye faint of heart read no further. I was eating some chips and part of one of my molars just broke off! I spat out a peice of my tooth and tongued the tooth. MISTAKE! I cut my tongue on the dang thing. I continued to play into the wee hours of the morn and all day Sunday. I got Enid a bowl of cereal when she awoke and brewed another pot of coffee when Kirstin got up. I continued to tongue the tooth! So I filed that puppy down (I know gross right?!) and now it doesn’t cut my tongue. Also, I gargled with some Hydrogen Peroxide + Water to prevent infection and any other unpleasantness, that shit burns!

Rondy

Filed under: General — jc @ 8:17 am

Late February is the Fur Rendezvous, traditionally it was the time toward the end of winter where fur trappers would come to meet and trade furs… hence the name. Now although there still is a fur auction, there are also loads of other activities, it’s pretty much like a big fair in downtown Anchorage. There are dog shows, pony rides, sled races, and the typical things you’d see at a carnival; rides, over-priced games, & cotton candy.

I took the fam to Rondy brevity) on Saturday and fun was had by all, I even won Enid some stuffed animals. Eventually our toes got cold and we headed to the downtown mall for some warmth and food.

No one really wanted to go back outside at that point so we headed to my favorite local hobby shop and I bought Enid a comic book (which brought me immense joy) and for myself some vintage RPG books and a new AT-43 figure (the Nakovalny). Kirstin went across the street to check out a new concession store and got herself a felt flower-shaped pin for her jacket’s lapel.
